Overview
Operating from Eos Station (DS108), a revitalized Watchtower-Class starbase, the Eos Frontier Squadron serves as Starfleet's presence in the rugged and politically unstable Alpha Doradus system. Situated near Freecloud and the T'Met sector, the squadron deals with fractured Romulan factions, opportunistic pirates, and smuggling operations.
Composed of aging vessels, the squadron embodies Starfleet's resilience and resourcefulness. Led by Fleet Captain Elena Mitchell, the Eos Frontier Squadron proves that even Starfleet’s forgotten relics can meet the galaxy’s greatest challenges.
Mission
- Providing Intelligence: Serve as Starfleet’s eyes and ears in the region, collecting and analyzing data on the shifting alliances and power struggles of the fractured Romulan Free State.
- Conducting Patrols: Oversee trade routes, intercepting illegal activities like smuggling and piracy.
- Scientific Exploration and Surveillance: Investigate spatial anomalies and other scientific phenomena while monitoring Romulan advancements.
- Rapid Response and Tactical Operations: Act as a first responder to crises, providing reconnaissance, rescue missions, and defensive actions.
History
Originally commissioned in 2293, Eos Station was a strategic outpost guarding the Romulan Neutral Zone. Decades of neglect and shifting priorities turned it into an aging relic with outdated systems and a diminished purpose. By the late 24th century, the station had become a forgotten footnote in Starfleet’s history.
In 2400, the collapse of the Romulan Star Empire revitalized the Alpha Doradus sector. Eos Station was reactivated, its systems modernized, and its new purpose defined as the command hub for the Eos Frontier Squadron. With the USS Edison (Edison-class) joining the squadron , operations began.
In 2402, following a hard battle with Orion pirates, the USS Edison was reassigned, making way for the arrival of the USS Yeager (Saber-Class). Not long after the addition of the Yeager, the Squadron also saw the addition of the USS Galileo (Steamrunner-class) and USS Hawking (Nova-class).
