Starbase 62 is a Federation Aurora-class starbase located in the Cyland system on the border of the United Federation of Planets and the Tzenkethi Coalition. The starbase’s primary purpose is to provide support to frontier colonies and Starfleet border operations. The isolationism of the Tzenkethi means the station’s defensive duties are few and far between, but Starbase 62 played a crucial role in the Federation-Tzenkethi War of the mid-24th century, and border raids into Federation territory are not unknown.
With the Tzenkethi border only some 40 LY away from the Federation core worlds, SB-62 is not a remote or isolated frontier station. It is a bustling hub of civilian and Starfleet operations
