The USS Challenger (NCC-71099) was a Galaxy-class starship commissioned in 2366. After thirty-four years in service, Starfleet decided to decommission her in December 2400 and replace her with the newest Odyssey-class starship. Her final Commanding Officer was Fleet Captain Thomas Forrester, who commanded the Challenger since October 2399.
