USS Westbrook

From Bravo Fleet

USS Westbrook NCC-71953 is a Nebula-class Federation starship currently assigned to the Fourth Fleet Expeditionary Group. A large, multi-mission vessel, the Westbrook is capable of undertaking almost any mission expected of a Starfleet ship, though over the decades has been seen more as an ageing workhorse. With a large crew, extensive scientific and diplomatic facilities, and a strong combat profile, she is undeniably the most powerful ship assigned to the Expeditionary Group.

Her defining feature is flexibility. Long lateral sensor arrays and mission-configurable pods make the Westbrook one of the fleet’s most versatile science vessels. In addition, she’s one of Starfleet’s preferred platforms for diplomacy. Expansive guest quarters, conference spaces and holodecks make it easy to host dignitaries in comfort.

History

The Westbrook was one of the last Nebula-class ships to be produced, and entered service in 2389 and was assigned to several three-year long exploratory missions. In early 2402, she joined the defence against the Vaadwaur Invasion, sustaining heavy losses and severe damage.

Following necessary repairs and upgrades, she was assigned to the Expeditionary Group.

Design

Very similar to the Galaxy-class, the Westbrook’s interior blends soft beige and pastel tones with curved surfaces and wood paneling. Corridors are wide and carpeted, crew quarters are spacious, and the bridge modernized and expansive.

Shipboard life

Life aboard the Westbrook is, by Starfleet standards, comfortable and engaging. The ship offers extensive recreational facilities and holodecks, ensuring an opportunity to unwind when off-duty.

With large numbers of ships in the class, the crew takes pride in making their vessel unique, which translates into renaming lounges, adjusting color schemes, and cultivating small traditions.

The Arboretum

The Arboretum is one of the elements born from the effort of making the Westbrook stand out. As such, it isn’t just a patch of green, but a carefully cultivated pocket of serenity amid warp engines and turbolifts. A mix of hydroponic trees, plants, and vines stretch across tiered platforms and offer the crew a place to come together outside of their usual departments and assignments. As a community project, the responsibility of upkeep falls to those who volunteer - a highly popular task for those with a penchant for horticultural upkeep.

Auxiliary Vessels

The Westbrook boasts two large shuttlebays that house up to ten shuttles, in addition to the two runabouts Scoutwing and Eastford.

The USS Westbrook In-Play

The Westbrook is the most classic, large starship available for Expedition Group missions. She is suited to a range of stories due to her multi-mission profile, and is a respected enough ship to ‘fly the flag’ on behalf of the Federation if needed. Her age means that problems can still challenge her, and her power and crew size make her the most likely ship to be chosen for high-stakes missions.
