USS Seoul (NCC-65531) is a New Orleans-class Federation starship currently assigned to Fourth Fleet's Task Force 17.

Design and Configuration

As a New Orleans-class vessel, the USS Seoul employs a modular pod system that allows for mission-specific outfitting. With its commanding officer, Commander Adeola Johnson, having a background in Starfleet Security, the Seoul has adopted a standard configuration geared toward tactical patrol, interdiction, and anti-piracy operations across volatile sectors like the Typhon Frontier.

Standard Pod Configuration (Security Patrol)

  • 1x Sensor Pod (Port)
  • 1x Sentry Pod (Starboard)
  • 1x Cargo Pod or Passenger Pod (Ventral)

This configuration provides excellent tactical versatility:

  • Sensor Pod: Enhances detection of cloaked or fast-moving targets, intercepts subspace transmissions, and supports advanced tactical scanning.
  • Sentry Pod: A deployable automated defense platform with 8 torpedo launchers and independent AI tracking, ideal for perimeter security or orbital suppression.
  • Cargo Pod: Used in interdiction missions to store confiscated goods, weapons, or smuggled cargo. Alternatively, a Passenger Pod may be swapped in for detainee handling, hostage extraction, or civil transport support.

This loadout gives the Seoul a persistent, autonomous tactical presence while maintaining flexibility for civil law enforcement duties or humanitarian follow-up.

Tactical Note

This configuration mirrors strategies used in Federation border enforcement following the Changeling Conspiracy and during operations like The Devil to Pay. With heightened criminal activity and the black-market circulation of stolen tech, the Seoul’s setup enables it to respond swiftly, seize contraband, and support joint ops with Starfleet Intelligence or planetary security forces.

Crew

The Seoul is commanded by Commander Johnson, a seasoned officer with a background in tactical and security operations. The current complement focuses on multidisciplinary support staff capable of adapting to volatile mission parameters.

Service History

Originally commissioned in the 2360s, the USS Seoul served with distinction during the height of the Dominion War. Assigned to convoy escort and perimeter defense, the ship took part in several key operations in the Alpha Quadrant, sustaining moderate damage during the Battle of Tyra in 2374. Following the war, the Seoul participated in diplomatic escort duties along the Romulan border before being mothballed in 2386 as part of Starfleet's post-war fleet reduction.

In 2401, the Seoul was reactivated and modernized under Starfleet’s Fourth Fleet modernization program, with a focus on supporting rapid response and security patrols along unstable frontiers. Assigned to Task Force 17 the ship was placed under the command of Commander Adeola “Deo” Johnson, a decorated security officer with a reputation for tactical innovation and diplomacy through strength.

Auxiliary Craft

The USS Seoul maintains a versatile complement of auxiliary craft optimized for security patrol, personnel deployment, and operational flexibility in volatile sectors like the Typhon Frontier. These small craft allow the ship to operate independently for extended durations and respond to a range of mission profiles, from interdiction and boarding actions to logistical support and planetary extractions.

Standard Complement

Craft Type Quantity Purpose
Type-8 Personnel Shuttle 2 Fast, compact, and lightly armed. Used for routine personnel transfers, secure landings in hostile environments, and away team insertions.
Type-10 Personnel Shuttle 1 Heavily armored tactical shuttle with micro-torpedo launchers and phasers. Ideal for high-risk extractions and special operations.
Type-17 Cargo Shuttle 1 Medium-lift shuttle for cargo deployment. Can carry supplies, confiscated goods, or field equipment to planets or orbital facilities.
Danube-class Runabout 1 Modular long-range support vessel. Used for deep recon, multi-day away missions, med-evac, or planetary security patrols.
