IKS Ki'tang

From Bravo Fleet

IKS Ki'tang IKS-128 is a B'rel-class starship of the Klingon Empire currently assigned to Fourth Fleet's Task Force 93 under a cross-command exchange program.

History

2375

The IKS Ki'tang was active during the Dominion War and later participated in the Second Battle of Chin'toka in 2375.

During the allied charge against the combined Breen, Dominion and Cardassian forces, the Ki'tang was the only ship impervious to the Breen energy dampening weapons and subsequently the sole surviving vessel of the engagement. It was later discovered that the Chief Engineer of the Ki'tang had adjusted the tritium intermix to compensate for a containment problem with the Ki'tang's warp core.

This stroke of good fortune, once realised, allowed the Klingon fleet commanded by General Martok to be modified to resist the Breen weaponry. This led to the Klingons taking a front-line offensive role for a period following the battle, buying time for the remaining allied forces to develop similar modifications.

As the remainder of the allied fleet was destroyed during the battle, Ki'tang was left impossibly outnumbered and outgunned. Faced with certain death, the vessel's captain prepared his ship and crew for a suicide run, intending to detonate her warp core in close proximity to the Dominion fleet, and hopefully, destroy or damage several ships with her sacrifice.

Ki'tang's first officer was the first to identify their unique resistance to the Breen weaponry as being of tactical importance to the larger war effort and led a mutiny against the captain for control of the ship, killing the captain in the process. This act of disloyalty saved the ship and perhaps the ability of the Allied forces to bounce back from such a crushing defeat.
